Wireman

Written by Peter Li-Chang Kuo ( Chinese ) Few people alive today may know that there was once a very popular profession—the " Wireman " (Wiring Technician also known as a Deploying Electrical Wires Technician). In the 1960s, the wireman was a well-paid job, and one who could also get ahead of their employer. All electrical appliances required those wiring technicians to ensure optimal wiring configuration so that the products could be sold and generate revenue. Therefore, employers dared not offend wiring technicians, and their status was extremely high, almost untouchable. However, as I developed more and more products and promoted the concept of " shared grounding ," the importance of wiring technicians diminished. Until we successfully developed the portable " transistor cassette recorder " and upgraded bakelite plates to " printed circuit boards " (PCBs), the wiring technician profession suddenly disappeared from the face of the earth. ...
